May 9-15, 2020

Simone Whiteley-Allen is a painter and performance artist born and based in Chicago. She is currently earning her BFA from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago. Her work emphasizes memory, sexuality, and childhood through reenactment and abstraction creating collective cathartic experiences.

Themes of the relationship between opposites and there inherent contradictions as well as dependency are constant in her work: love and hate, play and misery, sex and aggression, past and present, mind and body. Simone draws from her background in dance and choreography, early influence of experimental theater, and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Oregon to inform her process of creating.
